Software defined storage and data recovery ally for modern dynamic workloads

Software-defined storage specialist, DataCore has teamed up with data recovery technology provider, CommVault to offer a new type of data protection service.
It uses Datacore’s SANsymphony-V which is integrated with CommVault’s Simpana IntelliSnap snapshot management technology to produce a data protection and recovery system designed specifically to keep dynamic workloads “always running”.
George Teixeira, president and CEO at DataCore said a new type of thinking was required to deal with modern dynamic application workloads. “Data protection needs to be looked at from end to end and centered around mitigating the impact to the business,” he said. The deal with CommVault brings together the “benefits of software-defined storage to accelerate data protection and recovery operations while making hardware maintenance, data migrations and hardware refreshes easier.”
Features of the cooperation include the ability to virtualise and pool access to any type of storage, automate the creation of indexed, application-aware snapshot copies across the storage environment, deploy and orchestrate recovery across all snapshots, backup and archive copies, and reduce primary storage costs.
