Five new firms join Multi Tenant Data Center Alliance

Thu 1 Feb 2018

Five new firms have joined CommScope’s Multi Tenant Data Center (MTDC) Alliance, including Digital Realty.

The MTDC Alliance was formed in June last year in response to the ever-increasing trend towards colocation. As part of the PartnerPro Network, Alliance members are able to offer optimal network infrastructure solutions for customers who need to deploy this technology.

Now, five major firms have joined the alliance, including Digital Realty. As well as the new additions to the membership, the Alliance has created an advisory board with the intention of improving the multi-tenant experience, both for operators and customers.

Digital Realty and existing member Equinix will sit on this board, which will meet bi-annually and will help clients understand product and solutions, and services that can be provided by members.

Angela Haneklau, vice president of global ecosystem partners for CommScope, said: “Our MTDC advisory board can help customers find the right location and space that suits their needs. There are a lot of questions, and we’re here to provide the right answers.”

The new members collectively operate across a huge acreage, all around the world. Digital Realty is a major leader in the data centre REIT market, and provides data centre, colocation and interconnection solutions for more than 2300 organisations through its portfolio of over 185 data centres. It has sites in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

RagingWire, which operates one and a half million sq. feet in North America, also joined the Alliance. It was announced recently that the firm had been fully bought out by its parent company NTT Communications.

Other new members include T5, which has delivered or operated more than 100 facilities, covering 11 million sq. feet around the world. Cologix specialises in North American edge markets, and enables connectivity to network and cloud ecosystems.

The final new member is Aligned Energy, an infrastructure technology company that offers colocation and solutions to cloud and managed service providers.

The first member of the MTDC Alliance, Equinix, has found itself in the news recently after long-time CEO Steve Smith resigned after showing ‘poor judgement’ in an employee matter.
