CyrusOne expands into Atlanta with data centre campus

CyrusOne is building a 44-acre data centre campus near Atlanta to serve its growing customer base.
The data centre real estate investment trust has announced plans to construct the campus which will contain 440,000 sq. feet of data centre space across three sites, with a total of 50MW of power.
It states that it has a burgeoning list of hyperscale cloud providers and enterprise business customers that require data centre services, leading to its decision to build the new campus.
Located in the suburb of Douglasville, outside of Atlanta, Georgia, the company will begin work early next year and intends to finish the first facility by the summer of 2018.
“Leadership in technology, financial services, manufacturing, education, and connectivity make Atlanta an especially attractive market for our cloud and enterprise customers,” said Tesh Durvasula, CyrusOne’s chief commercial officer.
“Atlanta’s diverse economy moves fast and CyrusOne operates in the same manner. Our new Douglasville site is an ideal location for companies fuelling Atlanta’s growth to leverage our state-of-the-art data centre solution in this dynamic region,” he added.

The state of Georgia has become increasingly popular as a destination for technology investment in recent years, thanks to a series of tax incentives. As such, it has been dubbed the ‘Silicon Valley of the South’, including by the state’s governor, Nathan Deal.

The data centres being built by CyrusOne in Atlanta will provide access to multiple cloud providers, as well as being linked to the company’s interconnection service, the National Internet Exchange. Customers using the facilities will also have direct access to a large fibre hub. CyrusOne operates 44 data centres in the States, Europe and Asia.
