Dimension Data continues push into Americas with Nexus takeover

Fri 25 Apr 2014

An IT services player with global ambitions, Dimension Data has made a major advance into the US market with the acquisition of California based data centre and IT specialist Nexus.

Terms were not disclosed – Nexus is privately-owned – but the move expands Dimension Data’s operations in the US by 40%, with particular gains the west, south west and south east regions of the country. It employs 657 people.

Brett Dawson, CEO of Dimension Data, which is a South Africa-based subsidiary of the giant Japanese NTT Group, called the acquisition a “significant strategic step” in the company’s plans to enhance its global footprint.

Mark Slaga, CEO of Dimension Data Americas, said: “Together, the assets of both companies position Dimension Data as one of the leaders in the provision of services and solutions in the ICT sector across the US. Nexus brings a rich set of services and solutions to the Group, particularly in the data centre, collaboration, enterprise networks, security and cloud spaces.”

This move comes two months after Dimension Data announced it had acquired 100% of NextiraOne a communications services company, for an undisclosed sum. NextiraOne has 1,850 employees across Europe.
