  • EcoStruxure IT shortlisted for Intelligent Automation and Management Innovation of the Year

London, United Kingdom – November 23rd, 2020Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been shortlisted as a finalist in three categories in the 2020 DCS Awards, the prestigious event for data centre professionals and end-users. The shortlisting recognises the company’s strengths in innovative hardware and software systems including Smart-UPS unitinteruptible power supplies (UPS); its 6U Wall Mount EcoStruxure Micro Data Center; and vendor-agnostic, next-generation data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) software, EcoStruxure IT.

“We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for three categories at the prestigious DCS Awards,” said Marc Garner, Vice President, Secure Power Division, Schneider Electric UK&I. “With a greater focus on energy efficiency, resliency and interopability, these products help to customers and partners to overcome deployment, management and integration challenges, using IoT-enabled technologies to deliver greater visibility and lower carbon emissions.”

Data Centre Power Innovation of the Year

Schneider Electric’s Smart-UPS with Lithium-Ion batteries provide critical backup power to data centre and edge computing environments. They have been shortlisted for the Data Centre Power Innovation of the Year in recognition of their increased operational life, smaller footprint, greater ease of management and lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Schneider Electric Smart-UPS with Li-ion are available in models from 5000kVA to 1500kVA and their small size and integrated network-ready capability make them particularly suitable for deployment in distributed applications at the edge of networks, where resilient power is essential.

Edge Computing Innovation of the Year

Schneider Electric’s 6U Wall Mount EcoStruxure Micro Data Center is the industry’s first wall-mounted edge computing enclosure, allowing rapid deployment of pre-integrated infrastructure in any location, particularly where space is at a premium. It comprises a single-rack enclosure with built-in remote monitoring and management services, physical security, UPS, power distribution and cooling. Taking up zero floor space, and 60% less intrusive than traditional rack enclosures, it can be installed with a minimum of disruption to existing operations and is pre-tested to offer interoperability with products from other leading IT vendors including Cisco, Dell, HPE, NetApp, Scale Computing and StorMagic.

Intelligent Automation and Management Innovation of the Year

Schneider Electric EcoStruxure IT™ is a next-generation DCIM architecture that allows data centres, including hyperscale, colocation and edge computing environments, to be managed remotely, from anywhere, at anytime. It provides real-time visibility into the health and performance of data centre components including racks, switchgear, power distribution, cooling and UPS systems and provides data-driven recommendations to increase resiliency, efficiency and reduce costs.

Using artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and data analytics, EcoStruxure consolidates performance and alarm data , while producing proactive recommendations that enable end-users and partners to rectify unplanned issues before they become critical. By automating and simplifying the task of both managing and building resilience into data centre operations, it helps to reduce the risk of human error, and reduces downtime.

To-date, EcoStruxure IT it is the industries only vendor-neutral, cloud-based DCIM solution, allowing any IoT enabled infrastructure device to be monitored and managed 24/7, from anywhere and at anytime via the EcoStruxure IT Expert™ smartphone application.

The DCS Awards take place in London on December 10th, 2020. To vote for Schneider Electric please visit the DCS Awards website.
