Hitachi Vantara Develops High-Performance Hybrid Cloud and Database Solutions Powered by AMD

Data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi, Hitachi Vantara, announced the development of high-performance and energy-efficient hybrid cloud and database solutions.

The new AMD EPYC™ CPU-powered Hitachi Vantara hybrid cloud solutions combine converged and hyperconverged solutions, including Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP), with 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors.

Hitachi Ventara said this represents a significant advancement in the realm of hybrid cloud and database solutions designed to provide businesses with an ‘all in’ feature to enhance data centre performance and efficiency.

Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, Octavian Tanase, said by leveraging the performance of AMD 4th Gen EPYC processors, the company is delivering high-density and throughput solutions with 100% data availability guarantee that redefine industry standards.

“The solutions offer a suite of key differentiators in the realm of hybrid cloud, databases, and high-performance computing, providing high-performance, efficient, and scalable solutions tailored to modern enterprise needs,” said Tanase.

Hitachi Vantara highlighted enterprises continue to struggle with growing challenges of optimising their IT infrastructure, including reducing costs in an increasingly competitive landscape. The complexity in managing and operating traditional data centres exacerbates these challenges, often leading to inefficiencies and increased operational costs.

To compound matters, there is a growing need to reduce operational overheads, specifically with power, cooling, and space requirements, to streamline operations and enhance sustainability efforts.

Hitachi said businesses must seek partnerships offering high-performance, energy-efficient hybrid cloud and database solutions that align with goals of cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and sustainability to address resource demands.

Benefits of the Solution

Hitachi Vantara said its hybrid computing solutions, powered by AMD EPYC processors, prioritise efficiency by enhancing processing speeds across various workloads, from traditional to modern applications such as general-purpose tasks, databases, high-performance computing, and CAE (Computer-aided Engineering).

These solutions offer high performance, evidenced by pre-validated and certified Hitachi UCP solutions, which deliver efficiency with fewer cores tailored for cloud, enterprise, and edge computing demands.

In addition to performance, sustainability is a key focus of the newly introduced solutions. They feature modern designs and compact footprints, contributing to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and enhanced energy efficiency.

A financial service provider has attested to Hitachi Vantara’s storage capabilities, reporting potential reductions in CO2 emissions by up to 96% and data centre storage footprints by as much as 35%.

Hitachi Vantara’s converged and hyperconverged solutions offer high-density and bandwidth infrastructure, facilitating the consolidation of multiple enterprise workloads.

The UCP portfolio extends to include the Hitachi UCP for Azure Stack HCI, designed to facilitate a consistent hybrid cloud infrastructure across edge, core, and public clouds. Hitachi Vantara aids businesses in simplifying hybrid cloud deployments by providing a single source for systems, solutions, and services, thus streamlining operations and reducing the complexity of multi-vendor logistics.
