Gunnebo Entrance Control partners with World Land Trust to protect threatened habitats

Gunnebo Entrance Control has partnered with the World Land Trust (WLT) to combat climate change and preserve biodiversity. As a Corporate Partner, the company directly funds protecting some of the planet’s most vulnerable habitats, ensuring long-term conservation for endangered species and vital ecosystems.
With ecosystems under increasing pressure from deforestation, agriculture, and urban expansion, Gunnebo is supporting WLT’s Buy an Acre programme, an initiative that secures ecologically significant land under permanent protection. By funding land purchase in key conservation zones, Gunnebo is helping to safeguard biodiversity hotspots, prevent habitat loss, and contribute to climate resilience.
Through this initiative, Gunnebo said it is saving at least 50 acres of land annually, with additional acres protected for every completed project exceedin £412,777 ($522,911). Gunnebo said this long-term commitment aligns with the company’s broader sustainability strategy and mission to create a safer, more sustainable world.
Protecting Key Ecosystems Under Threat
WLT’s conservation efforts focus on securing land in high-biodiversity regions facing immediate risks. The current Buy an Acre programme supports three critical sites:
- Dakatcha Woodland, Kenya – Home to the Clarke’s Weaver Bird, found nowhere else in the world, and under threat from land clearance for commercial agriculture.
- Renosterveld, South Africa – A UNESCO-recognised floral ecosystem with the world’s highest concentration of bulb plant species, endangered by expanding farmland.
- Somuncurá Plateau, Argentina – A refuge for Pumas, Culpeo Foxes, and endemic species such as the El Rincon Stream Frog, at risk due to unmanaged livestock and invasive species.
Each acre protected is a step towards mitigating biodiversity loss, preserving carbon-storing forests, and ensuring that these ecosystems remain intact for future generations.
Driving Business-Led Conservation
Gunnebo Entrance Control’s partnership with WLT reflects the increasing role of businesses in tackling environmental challenges. By integrating conservation into its corporate responsibility efforts, the company hopes to set an example in demonstrating that sustainability and commercial success go hand in hand.
