US fibre data platform, FibreLocator, has announced that it will now include data on UK fibre providers in its database.

This extension adds to its existing repository, which encompasses fibre footprints and route maps for over 1,000 carriers, more than 5 million connected buildings, and 6,000 data centres.

FiberLocator has long provided detailed fibre data to carriers, mobile operators, tower companies, and data centre operators. The platform is known for its comprehensive and timely information, which supports the development of fibre networks, planning of data centre sites, and identification of on-net buildings. The company continuously updates its database by integrating new data from various sources.

“FiberLocator users are generating an increasing request volume for UK-based fibre connectivity, and launching in the UK will open up many exciting new opportunities for us,” said Mike Iapalucci, Vice President of FiberLocator.

Iapalucci added that FibreLocator’s goal is to be the bridge between UK supply and US demand, with the company already in the process of signing up first suppliers.

Fibre providers can contribute their footprint data to the FiberLocator platform at no cost, thus reaching a broad audience of US carriers. This approach offers an additional wholesale selling channel, bypassing the need for extensive negotiations.

“With the increased expansion of UK data centres, proximity to fibre is more important than ever for data centre users and operators … This represents a valuable opportunity for UK providers, and we are keen to support their integration into the market,” said David Liggitt, President at CCMI.
