EQT Infrastructure VI fund (EQT Infrastructure) has announced a partnership with EdgeConneX to build and operate high-powered data centres for hyperscale customers globally.

EdgeConneX is a data center provider backed by funds EQT Infrastructure IV and EQT Infrastructure V. This collaboration marks a significant expansion into new markets.

Building Capacity for the Digital Future

Since EQT’s acquisition in 2020, EdgeConneX has expanded its capacity and global footprint.

With 80 data centres in operation or development across North America, Europe, APAC, and South America, EdgeConneX is poised to support the rapidly growing demands of digital economies.

Jan Vesely, a partner within EQT Infrastructure’s Advisory team, said: “EdgeConneX, together with this new initiative, is well-positioned to be a leading provider of critical digital infrastructure worldwide.”

The investment by EQT Infrastructure VI seeks to build out hundreds of megawatts of new data centre capacity, catering to the future needs of cloud computing, AI, and other critical digital infrastructure.

Randy Brouckman, CEO of EdgeConneX, said: “Data centres are the critical infrastructure housing and connecting the technologies, the companies, and the end-users, thus enabling the future growth of the world’s digital economies.”

This transaction expects EQT Infrastructure VI to be 30-35% invested, indicating a significant commitment to the digital infrastructure sector.
