Digital Realty has launched MAA10, its first data centre in India. The data centre is located in Chennai’s industrial hub.
This new facility is set on a 10-acre campus, with the potential to support up to 100MW of critical IT load capacity, positioning it as a key player in India’s digital transformation journey.
Details on Digital Realty’s MAA10 Data Centre
MAA10 represents the first phase of this ambitious campus and is designed to offer 20MW of IT load. The facility is equipped with a modular infrastructure design, including single cabinets and multi-megawatt setups.
MAA10 is tailored to support emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, offering configurations to meet high-density power requirements – up to 70 kilowatts per rack – and the cooling and interconnectivity demands of AI workloads.
Deep interconnectivity is a fundamental feature of MAA10, leveraging Jio’s expansive digital and connectivity ecosystem to provide seamless connectivity across India.
The facility also integrates into PlatformDIGITAL, Digital Realty’s global data centre platform. The MAA10 data centre will also be ServiceFabric-enabled this year, giving the ability to configure and provision connectivity on-demand.
Serene Nah, Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific at Digital Realty, said: “With a population of 1.4 billion and a growing focus on the delivery of digital services, India represents a key market opportunity for Digital Realty and our partners and customers.”
MAA10 has been designed and constructed with sustainability principles in mind and will continue to prioritise energy and water efficiency, resource conservation, and the use of renewable energy sources, including solar power.
CB Velayuthan, CEO of Digital Connexion, said: “This 100MW campus in Ambattur is ideal, given the necessary power supply, numerous submarine cable landing stations, and the state government’s aspirations to make Chennai a top data center destination in India,” he said. Velayuthan looks forward to making this campus a premier choice for customers seeking to expand their reach in India, starting with the state-of-the-art MAA10.
Digital Connexion – formerly known as BAM Digital Realty – is a joint venture between Brookfield Infrastructure, Reliance Industries and Digital Realty. Digital Connexion will own the MAA10 data centre.
