Arrcus joins Ultra Ethernet Consortium
Wed 20 Dec 2023
Arrcus, a hyperscale networking software company, has joined the Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC). The UEC is a Linux Foundation initiative focused on advancing Ethernet technologies for AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications.
The UEC is a collective effort among industry leaders to tackle the challenges posed by AI and HPC workloads, which require high-performance, low-latency, and scalable interconnects.
Shekar Ayyar, Chairman and CEO at Arrcus, said: “We are thrilled to join the UEC and contribute to the development of next-generation Ethernet technologies for AI and HPC.”
Ayyar emphasised the alignment of the UEC’s mission with Arrcus’s goals, expressing confidence in the company’s ability to accelerate innovation in this area.
Alan Weckel, Founder and Technology Analyst at 650 Group, said: “As GenAI becomes more widespread, operators need to evolve their networks to meet the demands for ultra-high bandwidth, while ensuring lossless and predictable connectivity.”
Weckel believes Arrcus’s membership in the UEC will drive further advancements in Ethernet technology to deliver an open and AI-scale architecture.
Arrcus’ involvement in the UEC complements its active participation in other industry initiatives, such as the Open Grid Alliance (OGA), dedicated to re-architecting the Internet for the next generation of applications.
This collaboration underscores Arrcus’ commitment to innovation in data centre networking, addressing the increasingly complex demands of AI and HPC workloads.
