Yondr Group, a global hyperscale data centre provider, has entered a partnership with private equity firm Everstone. To be known as EverYondr, the joint venture has an initial capitalization of $1 billion USD.
Everstone’s real estate arm, Indospace, is the largest real estate developer in India, with more than 47 million square feet under development.
The EverYondr joint venture will focus first on building a hyperscale data centre facility in Mumbai. The company has already acquired land in the Mumbai Metropolitan area and the power necessary for an operational data centre facility. With Phase I, due to be completed in 2023, the facility will deliver 30 MW of capacity; and when it is fully developed the capacity will be 60MW.
While further projects have not yet been announced, the two companies are focused on leveraging Yondr’s experience, combining it with Everstone’s financing and execution, to deliver a portfolio of hyperscale services to India.
“EverYondr’s early acquisition of its first campus in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region reinforces our commitment to the region,” said Dave Newitt, CEO of Yondr Group. He outlined the choice of India as a market for expansion, adding, “Unlike other mature hyperscale markets, data centers in India require a proactive approach to development and a streamlined delivery process. As a business, our mission is to help clients meet their data centre capacity and technical real estate needs, faster and with better performance outcomes than anyone else. Collaborating with a specialised and trusted partner like Everstone will enable us to continue to deliver on that promise in the Indian market that is critically under-served today.”
Earlier this year, Yondr dedicated $2 billion USD to enter the data centre market in North America. The company plans to expand its footprint across Canada, the U.S., and Central and South America. The company’s North American venture
