EcoStruxure IT Expert API is available globally in all markets, except China

Schneider Electric has released a public API for its cloud-based data centre monitoring software EcoStruxture IT Expert.

EcoStruxure IT Expert is a vendor-agnostic, AI-powered monitoring platform that enables data centre operators to monitor power and critical infrastructure remotely.

The new API allows end users to integrate the platform’s remote monitoring capabilities into third-party power and critical infrastructure systems.

The company said a key factor for launching the API was to simplify edge management for users managing distributed IT infrastructure.

This could involve maintaining a local data store and building custom applications that react to changes, for instance, allowing users to make changes that increase efficiency and sustainabilty.

“We have been talking about releasing a public API in the past year, and this announcement of its availability for EcoStruxure IT Expert demonstrates our on-going commitment to solving efficiency and sustainability challenges with edge computing,” said Kevin Brown, senior vice president, EcoStruxure, Energy Management Business, Schneider Electric.

Schneider said the API, which is available on a subscription basis, also creates new revenue streams for partners and a “more open ecosystem”.

“We are working with our partners and customers in new and different ways so they can gain the right visibility and insights on their IT infrastructure while we help to create a more open ecosystem,” Brown said.
