Pulsant invests £3 million to expand South Yorkshire data centre

Written by Fri 13 Oct 2023

UK edge infrastructure provider, Pulsant, has announced it will invest £3 million ($3.6 million) to expand its Rotherham data centre capacity by 116% to 380kW.

The additional power will accommodate increasing demand for low latency, high performance, and scalable network infrastructure. At more than 21,000sqft, the Rotherham site will see total IT space increase by 30%.

The Pulsant data centre site is also set to pilot non-palm derived hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel to replace fossil diesel in its standby power generators.

“The Rotherham data centre investment cements Pulsant’s domain expertise in the edge infrastructure market, adding further capacity to its platformEDGE infrastructure to reach businesses across the UK,” said Ben Cranham, Chief Operating Officer at Pulsant.

The Pulsant South Yorkshire data centre was originally opened by Onyx in 2011. Pulsant currently operates 12 edge data centres across the UK. The company formed in October 2010 from the BDC acquisition of Lumison.
