Former Equinix MD to lead Apto, new European hyperscale data centre provider

A new European hyperscale data centre provider called Apto has been announced, with former Equinix Managing Director at the helm.
The newly announced company called Apto was established with financial backing from investment manager Pimco.
Apto will build and operate data centres for cloud service providers expanding into Europe, as well as manage Pimco’s data centre assets.
Russell Poole, former Managing Director of Equinix UK, was appointed as CEO of Apto.
“Apto is not just a company. It is a promise to partner with the world’s largest hyperscalers as they build out the next wave of Europe’s fast-growing digital economy,” said Poole.
Other leaders include:
- Chief Financial Officer, David West, former VP of Finance at Digital Realty and Interxion
- Chief Development Officer, Roger Gough, former Senior Manager for EMEA Construction at AWS
- Chief Revenue Officer Chris Baxter, former Senior Director of Global Account Management and Strategic Alliances at Equinix.
“Our experienced leadership team, combined with Pimco’s premier real estate expertise and access to significant capital sets us apart in delivering this capability,” added Poole.
