NVIDIA announced the launch of the company’s first SaaS offering: the NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud, a cloud services suite supports collaborative modeling of 3D workflows – allowing data centre operators to build a digital twin of facilities.

Jensen Huang, CEO and founder of NVIDIA, announced at the GTC conference, “The metaverse, the 3D internet, connects virtual 3D worlds described in USD and viewed through a simulation engine.”

“With Omniverse in the cloud, we can connect teams worldwide to design, build and operate virtual worlds and digital twins.”

A digital twin is a precise, accurate duplication of the equipment and processes inside the data centre. This helps owners and operators to monitor and optimize activity in real time, as well as forecast more accurately.

Omniverse Cloud allows developers to collaborate on 3D workflows without using local compute power. This has applications for robotics, allowing training, testing, and deployment of AI-enabled machines at scale.

Omniverse Cloud services include the Omniverse Nucleus Cloud, the collaborative 3D modeling tool, as well as Omniverse Replicator, which connects 3D models to NVIDIA cloud services. Only some services are available today, however. Businesses that are interested in Omniverse Cloud as NVIDIA Managed Services can submit an application to the company for early access.

Siemens is one of the initial customers of the Omniverse, working to integrate NVIDIA with the Siemens Xcelerator platform. Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software noted that this represents an expansion of the partnership between the two companies, stating, “An open ecosystem is a central design principle for the Siemens Xcelerator digital business platform.”

“We are excited to expand our partnership with NVIDIA, develop integrations between Siemens Xcelerator and Omniverse Cloud, and enable an industrial metaverse where companies can remotely connect their organizations and operate in real time across the complete product and production lifecycle.”
