Hosting and cloud services company announces opening of new Berkshire facility

Leaseweb has officially opened a third data centre in the UK.

The new facility is located in Slough, Berkshire, and joins the company’s LON-11 and LON-12 facilities in central London.

Leaseweb has partnered with Iron Mountain, which acquired Leaseweb sister company EvoSwitch in 2018, to provide storage and information management services, including disaster recovery, via the facility.

The hosting and cloud services company said it will now offer competitively priced colocation services to a wider customer base and expanded Disaster Recovery (DR) services to existing customers, which include service management software specialist TOPdesk.

“Leaseweb’s expertise in these areas puts us in a strong position to leverage this trend and help businesses position their workloads based on their needs, from colocation, to dedicated servers or to being a hybrid cloud service partner,” said Eltjo Hofstee, Managing Director of Leaseweb.

“Adding a facility in Slough enables us to tap into one of the biggest connectivity hubs in the UK outside of London, therefore enhancing our ability to deliver according to these needs.”

In addition to its three UK facilities, Leaseweb operates data centres in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney.

According to Gartner, by 2025 80 percent of enterprises will migrate entirely away from on-premises data centres in favour of colocation and cloud hosting solutions.
