Kao customers to enjoy direct low-latency access to hyperscale cloud services

UK high-performance colocation operator Kao Data has inked yet another deal with a network provider to boost cloud connectivity at its state of the art campus in Harlow, UK.

This time Kao has teamed up with Network as a Service provider Megaport to bring on-demand connectivity from major hyperscale providers including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.

Through the partnership Kao will provide direct, secure and private software-defined networking (SDN) access to the global cloud ecosystem and multi-cloud and cloud-to-cloud connectivity throught the Megaport Cloud Router (MCR).

Kao hopes to win customers from Cambridge’s academic and high-tech and scientific communities by offering the closest Megaport presence to the UK innovation corridor. Such companies are increasingly seeking to couple advanced HPC workloads, which Kao caters for, with seamless, low-latency cloud connectivity.

“Enterprise, HPC and AI organisations depend on high-performance, low-latency connectivity, with varying peering and interconnection demands, many requiring local data centre capacity that links directly to their chosen cloud provider,” said Lee Myall, CEO, Kao Data.

“We’re proud to offer our clients in CambridgeLondon and beyond, a world-class home for their compute. Our partnership with Megaport further strengthens this, offering them unrivalled cloud accessibility through agile networks complementing the already strong foundational carrier attributes present across the campus.”

As part of the agreement, Megaport will become Kao’s primary software-defined networking (SDN) provider.

“We’re excited to partner with Kao Data to provide their customers with on-demand cloud connections,” stated Eric Troyer, Chief Marketing Officer, Megaport.

“Megaport’s industry-leading SDN platform removes traditional cloud access complexities and costly overheads. Through our global ecosystem of service providers, Kao Data’s customers will be able to choose and rapidly connect to the services that are right for their needs in a matter of minutes, not months. ”

Last month Kao Data partnered with Vorboss to become a Point-of-Presence (POP) for its high-capacity network for the financial services sector.

Kao Data’s OCP-ready Harlow campus is located less than 20 miles from Central London and is one of the UK’s most innovative data centre locations. When completed, the 15-acre campus will support an ITE load of over 40MW powered entirely by renewable energy.
