AI-powered cloud migration analyzer one of several tools unveiled at Big Blue’s annual get together

IBM unveiled a range of AI-enabled solutions at IBM’s Think conference this week. The new tools have been launched to assist customers’ digital transformation journeys and help make strategic business ecosystems more effective, IBM said.

Using AI developed by IBM Research, IBM Mono2Micro is a new capability that helps reduce the stress from cloud migration by analysing large enterprise applications and recommending the best way to adapt them for the cloud. This new capability of WebSphere Hybrid Edition is expected to simplify and speed up the migration process and reduce costs.

IBM Research is also releasing Project CodeNet, an open-source dataset made up of 14 million code samples, 500 million lines of code and 55 programming languages, to boost AI’s ability to understand and translate code.

According to IBM, their decision to go all-in on AI is driven by the need to provide enterprises with the modern technological solutions that are increasingly required to stay competitive.

A study released by IBM found that 43 percent of IT professionals said that their companies had accelerated their rollout of AI during the pandemic and half of respondents reported they evaluate AI providers in large part on their ability to automate processes.

IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, believes this is the year we will look back on as the moment the world entered the digital century in full force.

“In the same way that we electrified factories and machines in the past century, we will use hybrid cloud to infuse AI into software and systems in the 21st century. And one thing is certain: this is a future that must be built on a foundation of deep industry collaboration. No one understands this better than IBM, which is one of the reasons we are boosting investment in our partner ecosystem. Also at Think 2021, we are unveiling our latest hybrid cloud and AI innovations – the very technologies that serve as the building blocks of a new IT architecture for business,” said Krishna.
