Provider begins construction on Dielsdorg mega campus
Green datacenter is building a second campus in Switzerland, the Swiss provider has announced.
Construction has begun on the campus which will house three large-scale, high-performance data centres and a business park.
The ‘Zurich Metro Campus’ will span 46,000 sq m, which Green noted is four times the size of New York’s Time Square.
The provider is investing 500 million Swiss Francs (£410m) into the project and aims to finish the campus’ first data centre in the first quarter of 2022.
Green datacenter currently operates five data centres in Zurich, data real estate that totals over 14,000 sq m, with tenants that include national and international cloud providers.
The colocation provider is living up to its name by pledging more efficient power supply and cooling at the upcoming campus.
It specifically cited airflow simulations, next-generation cooling systems and waste heat recovery as features that will enable the campus to keep energy consumption to a minimum, whether it’s operating at partial or full capacity.
The campus will also connect to a district heating and cooling system that every local building in the area can access.
“With the new data center campus, Green is bolstering the geo-redundancy of its current data centers and is making Switzerland even more attractive as a data location for both local and international companies,” the company said in a press release.
