Centiel to debut sustainable UPS system at Data Centre World 2024

Written by Wed 7 Feb 2024

Centiel is set to introduce its sustainable uninterruptible power supply (UPS), StratusPower, to the UK market at Data Centre World. The event will take place on 6-7 March at ExCeL London.

Much like Centiel’s CumulusPower solution, its new StratusPower solution features ‘9 nines’ availability, 97.6% on-line efficiency to minimise running costs, and true ‘hot swap’ modules. StatusPower also includes long-life components to improve sustainability.

Innovation Meets Sustainability

StratusPower emerges from four years of development, designed to offer a 30-year lifespan, with the aim of contributing to sustainability efforts within the data centre industry.

Louis McGarry, Sales and Marketing Director at Centiel, emphasised the industry’s responsibility towards a sustainable future: “As an industry which burns significant amounts of energy, we have a duty to work towards creating a more sustainable future.”

The StratusPower system is capable of delivering up to 1,500kW of power in a single cabinet, with the potential for parallel configurations to achieve 3,750kW of clean, uninterrupted power.

Centiel’s focus on sustainability extends to the choice of battery technology, with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries offering higher temperature tolerance and a single replacement requirement over the UPS’ 30-year design life. This approach aims to enhance efficiency and reduce the need for cooling.

McGarry added: “We are excited to talk to data centre managers at Data Centre World who are seriously looking at how to improve sustainability and how this can be achieved within their data centre”

Demonstrations at Data Centre World will include a 1,200kW StratusPower unit, showcasing its high power density and adaptability to challenging environments. Centiel will be located at booth D725.
