ASOTO and CATALSYS partner for green energy solutions for AI data centres

Off-grid power solutions company, ASOTO OÜ, and energy solutions company, CATALSYS, have partnered in a strategic joint venture aimed at reshaping the European data-centre landscape with green-energy solutions.

This collaboration brings together ASOTO’s expertise in off-grid power generation and CATALSYS’s ammonia-cracking technology to introduce a new energy generators tailored for data centres.

The partnership, entails the joint development and commercialisation of container-type plug & play power units powered by ammonia as a green fuel source. By using the strengths of both companies, ASOTO and CATALSYS aim to establish new benchmarks for sustainability and energy efficiency in data centres throughout Europe.

“Teaming up with CATALSYS enables us to explore innovative energy solutions for data centres. By combining our expertise and technologies, we can drive meaningful innovation and deliver tangible benefits to the industry,” said Girts Bebris, Management Board Member at ASOTO.

Director of CATALSYS, Kevin Fothergill, echoed this sentiment.l He stated the technology has the potential to change energy generations for data centres, offering sustainable solutions irrespective of location.

“Together with ASOTO’s extensive network and manufacturing capabilities, we are well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for green energy and reduce carbon emissions in the data centre sector,” said Fothergill.

ASOTO and CATALSYS said strategic alliance between the two companies represents a significant step forward in the development of green ammonia power generation solutions for data centres. The companies added the joint venture lays a solid groundwork for future innovations in the industry, with plans to introduce green ammonia power generation solutions to the European market by the second half of 2025.
