Richard is the Director of CybX, Serco’s innovative cyber training, exercising and consultancy services capability. In this capacity he has been responsible for the development and delivery of the capability, which fuses world leading cyber-attack simulation technology, with consequence management up to board and national level as appropriate. This comprehensive ‘server room to board room’ approach is considered to be unique in the UK and probably globally. It has also been applied in delivering the first national and international cyber-crime exercises on behalf of the National Crime Agency. Prior to becoming Director of CybX, Richard had developed a portfolio consultancy. Assignments included being part of the KPMG team to design the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup National Crisis Management, Safety and Security Operating Model. Programme management and consultancy with an artificial intelligence company and software company amongst others. Underpinning Richard’s experience and qualifications is a background of over 20 years in the British Army as an infantry officer serving in a wide variety of roles around the world. As a result of he was selected specifically to be educated and then employed, between tours of doing the ‘day job’ to be a ‘hybrid’ who could straddle the business/operational environment and that of information technology. Roles in this latter guise included working in the MOD for the Army Chief Information Officer as the strategy lead. This was to identify and manage the portfolio of how the Army would transform the way it would digitize and exploit information, from it’s immediate requirements to over the next twenty years. He was subsequently programme manager of the Army’s lead change programme and his final tour was to drive innovation and training in Afghanistan for all deployed UK Forces.
