Director, Strategic ProjectsIoT
As a Director in the Microsoft Strategic Projects group based in Redmond, Washington, Michael Platt is deeply involved in the definition and provision of strategic architectural technical direction and support for Microsoft Corporation in the sports, fitness and assistive technology areas. In this role he works with a number of sports and assistive organizations such as Real Madrid and the Guide Dogs and with sports, fitness and assistive technology providers as well as working on Microsoft Products in these areas. He has extensive knowledge of the use of sensors and analytics in the sport, fitness and assistive technology area.
Michael has more than 40 years’ experience in the computer industry. His background includes experience in technical presales, consultancy, research and development, manufacturing, testing, and assurance in a wide variety of senior, leadership, and management roles in both the field and product development. A 20 year Microsoft veteran, Michael has worked a broad range of technical positions in the U.S. and the U.K. Before Michael joined Microsoft, he worked at IBM UK Laboratories Ltd for more than 20 years.
Michael is involved in a wide range of strategic projects in sports, fitness and assistive technology with a number of organizations and partners. He is interested in the marketplace, hardware and sensors, the collection, storage and protection of data and the use of Machine Learning and analysis on sports, fitness and assistive data.
