Jos has held a number of CIO and non-executive director positions. He has been President of the British Computing Society (BCS) and also of the Society of Information Management (Socitm). For over a decade he was CIO and CDO for Hampshire County Council. Now an independent consultant, he provides expert advice to public and private sectors on digital and IT strategies.
Jos writes, researches and speaks extensively on digital operating models, shared services, cyber resilience and cloud services in particular. He was involved in the original national G-Cloud UK programme.
He has long been an advocate for new ways of using technology to drive innovation in government. In 2010 he was recognised as the ‘most influential and innovative CIO in the UK’ in the ‘Silicon 50’ CIO survey.
