Ian has worked for GCHQ in a number of defence and intelligence roles in a career spanning over 25 years. A move from operations in 2005, led Ian into the world of IT as a Business Process Manager. In 2008, Ian switched to ITSM and took on the role of problem management team lead, with the specific task of improving the team’s performance using ITIL principles and developing it as a force positive within the organization. In November 2012, Ian left IT service management and became the service relationship manager for data centres on promotion. In 2014, he became the operations manager for data centres covering the largest part of the GCHQ data centre estate. Outside the day job, Ian is very passionate about all things data centres. Very much a people person, he is also passionate about inclusion and diversity and is keen to play an active role in trying to encourage new talent unto the data centre sector.
