Barry has a degree in Communications Engineering and is a chartered electrical engineer and also a chartered building services engineer.  After a career spanning technical roles in the Civil Aviation Authority and then manufacturers such as BICC, Leviton and Honeywell, Barry set up the Capitoline data centre consultancy in 2005. After introducing the world’s first data centre training and qualification programme in 2006 Barry has since acted as data centre consultant to the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, European Parliament, ESA and the United Nations Logistics Organization. Capitoline works on the British Standards committee that contributes to the CENELEC EN50600 series of data centre standards.
